In this report main focus is on the synthesis methods, the application is the main part of the studies. The four main synthesis methods discussed in this report are the arc discharge method, plasma torch , the chemical vapour deposition (CVD) and the laser ablation method. In begining of the CNTs synthesis the first three methods are used mainly for synthesis of Single walled carbon nano tubes while the fourth one produces mostly MWNTs. The principle of CVD is the breaking of many HCs at metal catalyst. Single-walled (SWNT), multi-walled (MWNT) nanotubes are synthesised. In producing of CNTs by using CVD method , catalyst helps to CNTs to grow from at surfaces. The growth of the nanotubes can be controlled by van der Waals forces and applied electricShow MoreRelatedElectronic Equipment s And Energy Storage1414 Words   |  6 Pagesdiscussed the exciting materials nanotubes in this outline and the study being carried out on our part. Therefore wide range of analytical methods for quantitation of DXM have been developed such as, high performance liquid Chromatography(HPLC) (Abdel-Moety, Al-Deeb, and Khattab 1995, Tedesco et al. 2013, Eichhold et alRead MoreNanomaterials: The Development of Polymer Composite934 Words   |  4 Pages(2011)]. Carbon nanotube Synthesis Methods: First High temperature preparation techniques such as arc discharge or laser ablation were used to produce CNTs But these techniques are outmoded by low temperature chemical vapour deposition (CVD) techniques (800 _C). Most of these methods require supporting gases and vacuum. Because gas-phase methods are volumetric, they are most suitable for applications like composite materials that require large quantities of nanotubes. Gas-phase synthesis methods disadvantagesRead MoreA Study On Preparing Titanium Metal Matrix Composites With Cnt Reinforcements For Various Compositions For Its Mechanical Properties1521 Words   |  7 PagesI. INTRODUCTION Many engineering applications in the field of aerospace engineering, automobiles, electronic equipment etc. require very light material with good mechanical properties. Titanium based metal matrix composites with carbon nanotube reinforcement can be a solution for such applications. It can satisfy the requirement of light weight with very good strength. This study focuses on preparing titanium metal matrix composites with CNT reinforcements for various compositions for its mechanicalRead MoreDifferent Types Of Nanoparticles1108 Words   |  5 Pagesmacromolecular materials and can be used therapeutically as adjuvant in drug carriers in which the active ingredient is dissolved, entrapped, encapsulated, adsorbed or chemically attached. There are two types of polymeric nanoparticles depending on the preparation processes which are nanospheres and nanocapsules. Nanospheres have a matrix in which drugs are dispersed or adsorbed onto their surfaces or encapsulated within the particles. Na nocapsules are the vesicular system in which the drug is enclosed toRead MoreChitosan Case Study1471 Words   |  6 PagesABSTRACT: In this account, phosphorylated chitosan (PCS) were first deposited on the surface of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) via chemical modification to obtain functionalized MWNTs-based PCS (PCS-MWNTs). Then, a series of PET fibers with MWNTs or PCS-MWNTs were prepared via melt spinning. The microstructure and molecular structure of MWNTs and PCS-MWNTs were characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR spectroscopy. The morphologicalRead MoreUsing Graphene And Its Effects On The Environment2317 Words   |  10 PagesApplications, such as for the transparent conductive electrode, and many other possible applications. They are almost one dimensional structures with high mechanical strength (100 times stronger than Steel), ultra-light weight (1/6th the weight of steel) and exhibit excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. Most importantly, CNTs have the ability to effectively cross biological barriers and cellular membrane allowing their use in a wide spectrum of biomedical applications suchRead MoreProduction of High-Quality Refractories1369 Words   |  5 Pages 2.1 Historical perspectives ASC refractory: Carbon has been accepted as a very important component of refractories after 1950’s. The addition of carbon results to a better thermal and chemical resistance and hence the life of refractory linings has been increased, which ultimately reduces the cost of steel production. [44, 45] Nowadays carbon containing refractories have been recognized for many different applications. As described by Sidinei N Silva et al [46] high alumina bricks were generallyRead MoreUse Of Nanomaterials On Civil Engineering- A Review4874 Words   |  20 PagesParticularly, construction industry may possibly be one of the chief beneficiaries of these materials, because the properties of concrete, steel, glass and other building materials will improve with the applications of nanomaterials.
